The Western Kentucky football team concluded its fall camp on Saturday night at L.T. Smith Stadium with the Red-White mock game.
The White team topped the Red team 27-7, capping an eventful day for the football program.

“We came out and got some good work done,” head coach David Elson said. “Not too much, but we let some of the younger guys get after it and really accomplished what we wanted to get accomplished.”

The Hilltoppers kicked off Saturday’s activities by sponsoring Bowling Green’s first Wipeout competition from 8 a.m. to noon, benefiting United Way of Southern Kentucky.

Over 100 contestants paid a $25 entry fee to try their luck in a series of obstacles and skill competitions on the football field.
Western followed the Wipeout event by hosting its first Family Fun Day before the Hilltoppers’ scrimmage.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., fans had a chance to take part in a “Fun Zone” featuring games, inflatable courses, face painting and other activities. Western players and coaches participated in the Topper Walk and took part in an autograph session before competing in the mock game.
The night’s festivities ended with a fireworks show.

“We had a great turnout with fans for our Family Fun Day,” Elson said.  “It was way better than I ever expected, so I really appreciate that from the people who came out. I know the players were excited to see the families who came out to get autographs, and it was a really good sign for the support we’re getting from our community.”
