Students, faculty and staff will get two chances to learn more about fire safety and prevention.
Fire Prevention Awareness Days will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. today and tomorrow on DUC North Lawn. Guests will have the opportunity to tour a fire truck and will be able to learn how to use a fire extinguisher, among other activities.

Super Saturday Workshop Middle and high school students from various schools in Kentucky will practice speech and debate at Western on Saturday. The students will visit the Hill to participate in the Super Saturday Workshop at Garrett Center hosted by the Forensics team and the Kentucky High School Speech League.

No forensic evidence has been found against one of the men charged with the murder of a Western student in May, but that might change when more evidence is tested in the next few weeks. Lab technicians have not yet tested hair samples that could serve as evidence against Lucas B.

House Democratic leaders will join Kentucky’s Republican governor next month in a discussion aimed at creating a budget for the state. Gov. Ernie Fletcher will meet with House Democratic leaders on May 4 in his office to discuss his tax plan and the state budget – or lack thereof.
