Job Fair: Job market strong for grads

Employers say they will hire more college graduates and pay them higher salaries in 2006 than last year. According the Job Outlook Report from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, public accounting and consulting services firms will hire the most graduates.

Retromadness revives ’70s culture

It was a time warp back to the 1970s as the sounds of The Carpenters’ “Rainy Days and Mondays” reverberated through Van Meter Auditorium Saturday evening.

Bowling Green concertgoers sang along with the familiar tune at “Retromadness: The ’70s Show.”

“Retromadness,” now in its second year, features singers accompanied by the Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra in performances of classic ’70s tunes.

Relay honors survivors

Louisville junior Jessica Wiser was happy to see the Relay for Life’s move to indoors didn’t deter participants from devoting an evening to the progression of cancer research. Wiser cheered with everyone else while the few cancer survivors in attendance walked the relay’s customary first lap in Diddle Arena Friday night.

‘Cancer doesn’t sleep,’ so campus relays for life

Teams of students, teachers and other Bowling Green residents will be walking laps around Smith Stadium track from 7 p.m. tomorrow to 7 a.m. Saturday to raise money for the American Cancer Society. “Cancer doesn’t sleep, so why should we?” said Louisville freshman Jessica Wiser, chairman of the event.

Live bands showcased for fifth-annual Diversity Rocks

Greek Events Day isn’t the only reason for students to congregate on DUC South Lawn this week. For Pride Week, there are a slew of events that will recognize the support of those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning. The Outlet Alliance, an organization supporting GLBTQ individuals, had its third anniversary celebration on Monday to kick off the week, followed by yesterday’s National Day of Silence.

I will be bold and say I do not like Cameron Diaz. I know this is terribly upsetting, especially when the consensus amongst the 18 to 24-year-old male crowd is that she is a unbelievable dream come true. She’s blonde, bubbly, loves to shake her bottom for no apparent reason, has graced the cover of Maxim, and she is willing to belch on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” while wearing a low cut top.

Breaking the silence: documentary promotes awareness

tudents walked away from Van Meter Hall Tuesday with a greater understanding of the suffering associated with sexual abuse and an inspirational message. Filmmaker and former model Angela Shelton presented her documentary on sexual abuse that discussed the importance of “breaking the silence” and wrapped up Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Students get free info, toothbrushes

Students may not know what to think about subjects such as alcohol abuse, skin cancer and sexual responsibility the week before spring break, but the Health and Activities Center thinks they should. Attracted by free products and screening tests, students made their rounds through the annual Healthy Days display at the Preston Center Tuesday afternoon, an event during Sexual Awareness Month aimed at providing students with useful health information.
