Break-ins increase during the holiday break

The number of break-ins increases over the holidays, especially for students who live off campus, said Barry Pruitt, public information officer for the Bowling Green Police Department. Those break-ins can be prevented, he said. People realize students have gone home for an extended period of time, and they take advantage of that, Pruitt said.

Administrators to address campus-wide issues

Administrators have more questions than answers about several issues on campus, President Gary Ransdell said. He’s appointing a small group of administrators to answer those questions and study how to make Western better for students who are here to get an education, according to an e-mail he sent to students Tuesday.

Police work extra shifts

This is the busy season for campus police, and officers are finding themselves stretched thin. Campus police have 23 officers on staff, five less than full complement, said Maj. Mike Wallace, field operations commander. Full complement is the number of officers campus police are allowed to have on staff.

Officials take action in fight

Western officials have taken action against 15 people in connection with a fight that broke out on South Campus and then moved near Pearce-Ford Tower on Oct. 22.
Three students were suspended from Western, President Gary Ransdell said in an e-mail yesterday to faculty, staff and students.
