Last spring I had my worst semester, grade-wise, ever. That semester I only had one A. The rest were Bs and Cs, which added up to a 2.8 grade point average. Yes, I know some of you would love to have a grade point average that high, but unfortunately I was raised with parents who feel that a B stands for “below average.

Life is not convenient. But somehow I try to make it that way. I have kitchen appliances that promise to make cooking preparation easier. I write e-mail that makes it easier to correspond (too easily, sometimes) with my bosses, co-workers, family and friends.

So there’s this movie called “The Passion of the Christ” that came out Wednesday. You might have heard of it. After all, it’s only been the topic of debate on television news networks, magazines and newspapers for the last few weeks. “The Passion” is a movie written, directed and produced by Mel Gibson that depicts the events in the last 12 hours of Christ’s life.

People have complained to me that the Herald is too liberal. Other times, people complain that the paper is too conservative. But really, the Herald staff members usually disagree on any given issue. There are Democrats, Republicans and an Independent or two.

Western officials hope a student success center in Downing University Center will provide a one-stop source for students to reach their academic goals. A committee of staff members from Academic and Student Affairs will examine students’ needs and decide what will be housed in the center, which will be funded by next semester’s tuition increase.

Soft drinks, gasoline and bank accounts are playing a part in paying for the renovation of one of Western’s most famous structures. U.S. Bank, Houchens Industries Inc. and PepsiAmericas Inc. have made written or verbal agreements to be a cornerstone partner for Diddle Arena.

The Warren Circuit Court will not likely be the venue where it is determined who is responsible for the death of Pellville freshman Melissa “Katie” Autry. Warren Circuit Court Judge Tom Lewis dismissed the wrongful death lawsuit against Western and the Student Life Foundation on Nov.

Western faculty will no longer have to walk down four flights of stairs to get some help with their teaching. The Center for Teaching and Learning is moving from its home on the first floor of Cravens Library to the corner of Chestnut and 31-W Bypass. The house is owned by the WKU Foundation.
