“Here comes Fuzzy,” is something Sgt. Mike Waldrop often heard from members of facility management when he made his rounds through campus buildings. Waldrop, 40, will leave his nickname at Western when he retires today after 17 years with campus police. Waldrop’s uncle, Gary Raymer, was chief of police in Bowling Green and his grandfather, Everett Tabor, worked as a Western campus officer from 1971 to 1982.

Three years before the Virginia Tech shootings, Western officials began implementing a comprehensive, campus-wide emergency warning system. The sixth and final phase of the emergency plan – the installation of speakers on top of three campus buildings – is complete and will be tested May 12 or May 19, Telecommunications Director Edwin Craft said.

The family of a Western student killed in an automobile accident involving a Bowling Green police officer agreed to a settlement of $1 million with the city of Bowling Green, according to a statement from the family’s attorney, Phil Grossman of Louisville.

About 27,000 Kentucky college students counting on a loan from the state’s student financial aid agency may have to find another lender. The Kentucky Higher Education Student Loan Corp., better known as The Student Loan People, announced Friday in a press release that it was suspending loans to first-time borrowers beginning May 1.

Chester L. Davis, the professor emeritus of the Computer Science Department who presided over the formation of that department in the early 1970s, was known for his tremendous work ethic and love for computer science. Davis, 84, died on April 14 at his home in Bowling Green.

A sophomore from Ashland City, Tenn., is facing four felony charges after she was arrested by Louisville Metro police on I-65 south of Louisville. Allison A. Fitzhugh faces four counts of wanton endangerment after almost hitting two parked police cars and a construction worker, police reported.

Saban Ferizi finally saw where his son died. About 60 family members and friends attended a vigil Thursday evening for Eros Berisaj outside the house where he died on April 3. Berisaj, 15, was shot and killed as he allegedly broke into a house at 525 Creekwood Court.

The family of an unarmed 15-year-old boy shot and killed last week will hold a vigil today at the Warren County Justice Center. Eros Berisaj was shot and killed while allegedly breaking into a residence at 525 Creekwood Court. The vigil will be at 5:15 p.m. today – about the time Eros was killed on April 3.

About 60 family members and friends attended a vigil Thursday evening for Eros Berisaj outside the house where he died on April 3. Berisaj, 15, was shot and killed as he allegedly broke into a house at 525 Creekwood Court. The attendees, many of whom wore T-shirts adorned with photographs of Eros, gathered at about 5:15 p.m. and walked about a mile from Eros’ family’s house to Creekwood Court.

The family of 15-year-old Eros Berisaj, who was shot and killed on Thursday, say they have questions surrounding the incident that authorities aren’t answering. Berisaj’s sister, Valentina, said the family has heard nothing either from the Bowling Green Police Department or the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office since Friday.
