Snell Hall still awaiting renovation

Administrators and historians are hoping to save one of Western’s oldest buildings.

Western administrators have decided it is time to renovate Snell Hall or risk losing the the old science building to future construction.

Western has scheduled for Snell to be renovated in 2006 using university funds, said President Gary Ransdell. But not everyone is convinced the restoration will happen.

Water to be turned off in buildings tomorrow

s students are leaving campus for Thanksgiving break, the water supply will also be leaving for a few hours. Water will be out in some buildings for two hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. tomorrow, maintenance manager Steve Barz said. The water will not be in service because Bowling Green Municipal Utilities will be repairing a damaged waterline on Big Red Way near Schneider Hall, said Doug Ault, director of Facilities Management.

Smoking zone plan approved

Smokers will soon have to watch where they light up before and after classes. Designated smoking areas were approved by the administrative council and President Gary Ransdell earlier this month, Staff Council chair Elizabeth Paris said. Under the plan, an area for smoking will be created outside of each academic building, Paris said.
