Greg Nugent paced the Country Creek Golf Course clubhouse Sunday in Franklin, trading between his position as general manager of the course designed by the Masters’ second-place finisher Kenny Perry and supporter of a close friend.
Perry’s quest to become the oldest Masters champion in the 75-year history of golf’s magical major tournament was winding down.

Junior Jeremy Evans led the Western men’s basketball team with 2.0 blocked shots per game last season, totaling 68 in 34 games.
On Saturday at the Boston Moon Classic at Tennessee State, he showed off the talent that makes his hoops success possible. Evans cleared 6-feet, 6-inches to win the high jump for Western, adding one of the six events where the Toppers placed first Saturday.

Former Western track coach Curtiss Long described the damage to the newly built Charles M. Ruter Complex rationally, but the undertones of astonishment were unavoidable.
Storms last Sunday ripped across much of central Kentucky, and in the process, ripped up any chance of Western hosting its first home track meet since before Smith Stadium construction started.

Western’s men’s and women’s track team doubled up on last week’s three Mideast Regional Qualifying marks at the Florida relays this past weekend.
The Toppers compiled six qualifying marks from a combination of three individuals and three relay teams for the Mideast Regional May 29-30 in Louisville.
