Long hours of choreography and training. Sore feet at the end of the day. Months of preparation. Hours under brightly colored lights that generate heat on the stage. All of this will come together tonight with the opening performance of the annual “An Evening of Dance” in Russell Miller theatre in the fine arts center.

“IDK My BFF George?” “Annoy a Liberal. Work hard and be happy.” “I believe the best social program is a job.” Those are just a few bumper stickers one could find on Union sophomore Shane Noem’s Facebook page. Most of the applications on his page are about supporting the Republican party.

Chris Brown, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Destiny’s Child, among other artists from the last two decades, made appearances in Van Meter Auditorium Sunday night.
The artists had Chi Omega sorority jiving to Avril Lavigne in bright colors and zebra tank tops while Kappa Sigma fraternity lived in a “Barbie World” and MMMBopped their way across stage.

ssistant English Professor Elizabeth Winkler spends ample time in her basement office in Cherry Hall, surrounded by bookshelves and filing cabinets filled with information on linguistics. More specifically, she studies the Creole language, a language with a mixture of French and Spanish words and sounds mostly found in Haiti and New Orleans.
