COMMENTARY: Guns have no place in classrooms

There are some things we as students never expect to see in a classroom. Things that are not a natural fit in that environment. I thought one of those things was a firearm of any kind. But, apparently I was wrong.

I was in a sociology class not long ago and noticed that an off-duty Bowling Green police officer was in the room.

So I can say with absolute certainty that I am not an expert at relationships, but I am willing to tell you what I have learned in hopes that maybe it will help clear up some misunderstandings. COMMENTARY: Parking problems ‘out of control’

To all my teachers this semester: If I am tardy for class at all, be assured it is not because I hit snooze too many times, or that I did not plan on the morning traffic, or even that I spent a little extra time in the shower that morning. If I am late to class, I guarantee it is because I am circling campus hunting for a parking spot.

COMMENTARY: ‘Hate-filled’ words do nothing to help

I was at lunch in Redzone the other day, enjoying the usual sub-par service, when a group of guys came in and sat at the table next to me. I did not have to try to listen in on their conversation since they were talking loud enough that anyone within several feet would not have had trouble hearing every word.

COMMENTARY: Keep opinions out of classrooms

I apparently missed the part in orientation before my freshmen year where they told students that being a professor meant that you had the right to impose your thoughts and ideas as absolute facts on students. In addition, no one ever told me that being a professor allowed you to ridicule anyone in your class for having a differing opinion from yours.
