Western adds two players

Men’s basketball coach Ken McDonald announced Wednesday that both guard Terrence Boyd and forward David Laury have signed their National Letter of Intent to play at Western.

COLUMN: Don’t put too much stock in quarterback race

When Western’s football team takes the field on Sept. 5 next season at Neyland Stadium against Tennessee, it’ll send a quarterback out on the field who has zero career starts.

It seems like somewhat of a daunting thought, but also ironic that as the newest team in the Football Bowl Subdivision, it’ll bring a very new quarterback.

FOOTBALL: Western focuses on first-, third-down situations in first spring scrimmage

First-year offensive coordinator Walter Wells paced the south sideline of Smith Stadium on Saturday.

For Wells, it was his first opportunity to call plays in a live-situation in Western’s first scrimmage of spring practices.

“It’s a new experience calling plays and doing things like that,” Wells said.
