It’s official.
Head Coach Willie Taggart has his first recruiting class in the books.
“I think they’re all really good players and we competed against some really good teams to get them,” Taggart said at a press conference on Wednesday. “Most importantly, a lot of them are winners. They’re winners and more importantly they wanted to be here. And to me that’s the most important thing.”
According to Rivals, the class includes five three-star players and 10 two-star players.
The class includes quarterback Brandon Doughty, (6-3, 190) a three-star quarterback from Coconut Creek, Fla.
“All the new coaches are real cool,” Doughty said. “They’re real down to earth guys and they expect so much out of you. The offense they run – the west-coast offense- is perfect for me. It fits me really well. That was another reason to go to Western.”
Taggart was hired on Nov. 23, 2009 after former coach David Elson was fired amidst an 0-12 season.
