SGA to give feedback to president, make offices greener

At tonight’s Student Government Association meeting:

  • President Kevin Smiley announced that SGA has been added to President Gary Ransdell’s listening tour, which consists of meetings with departments across campus.

Smiley will discuss Western’s future and parking at SGA’s meeting with Ransdell.

  • Nashville freshman Robert Onyejiaka, Bowling Green sophomore Katie Stillwell and Lexington freshman Logan Horrall were approved as student senators.
  • Wade Pierce, speaker of the senate, announced that SGA’s usual Tuesday meeting will be on Wednesday at 5 p.m. next week.
  • Smiley announced that the SGA office was recently made environmentally friendly. SGA-sponsored green teams made computers run more efficiently, added more recycling bins and adjusted the office lighting.
  • Aaron Pawley, SGA director of academic and student affairs, said green teams will visit professors Thursday to make their computers run more efficiently.
  • Smiley announced that the Master Planning Commitee is discussing building a new music building near Cravens Graduate Center and Library, Grise Hall and the fine arts center.
  • Chief of Staff Eric Smiley said a list of student complaints about dining have been complied and will be presented to the Food Services Committee Thursday.
  • Sarah Howell, SGA director of information technology, said SGA is working on getting a Twitter feed on the SGA homepage.
  • Dave Vickery, SGA academic affairs committee member, announced that there are two study abroad scholarships available.
  • Nominations were made for Committee Member of the Semester and Senator of the Semester.
