Western, SGA officials plan to amend proposal for new student fee

Student Government Association and university officials agreed today to make an amendment about a proposed fee that Board of Regents members were to vote on at their Friday meeting, said Student Regent Reagan Gilley.

The amendment would eliminate an item in the meeting’s agenda that calls for a $30 fee in addition to tuition for every credit hour students take exceeding 15 hours.

Gilley said he will propose increasing the fee students pay to add or drop a class to $50 instead. The fee is now $20.

SGA President-elect Kevin Smiley said SGA canceled a planned protest of the fee because members have accomplished their goal.
