Western’s softball team gave up both games tonight at the WKU Softball Complex. The Lady Toppers fell to Florida Atlantic 4-2 in game one and 11-5 in game two.

In game two, Western was led offensively by senior second baseman Terri Ellingsworth going 2-2 hitting two home runs and batting in four base runners. Senior pitcher Jennifer Kempf took the loss moving to 6-9 on the season.

In game one, Western didn’t fare so well. In the top of the second inning, senior pitcher Ryan Rogge gave up her eleventh homerun of the season giving Florida Atlantic a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Toppers responded when Terri Ellingsworth hit a two-run homerun to right field taking back the lead 2-1.

In the top of the seventh inning, Florida Atlantic hit a two-run homerun and another homerun back to back giving them the lead. Western was unable to recover from the deficit falling to the Owls 4-2. The loss was Rogge’s sixth of the season giving up six hits, four runs, a walk, and struck out three batters.
