The Student Government Association passed three bills tonight and voted down one resolution at a meeting on Tuesday.

Two bills that passed awarded $9,029.04 in organizational aid money to 21 organizations, according to the legislation.

The other approved bill allocated $2,000 to the Office of Diversity Programs for “The Come Up” program.

The program aims to help black men enhance skills in areas such as academics, health and etiquette, according to Western’s Web site.

The senate voted down a resolution encouraging Western to enforce the current campus smoking policy.

The senate also debated proposed amendments to the SGA constitution.

Chief Justice Corey Bewley announced another candidate for SGA president, Sen. Reginald Lane.

The other candidates for the position are current President Kayla Shelton and Kevin Smiley, head of the legislative research committee.

Elections will take place on April 14 and 15.
