Bowling Green police reported today that a Western student reported that she was sexually assaulted at 2 a.m. on Thursday night/Friday morning in a back yard between Chestnut Street and Mimosa Alley.

Barry Pruitt, public information officer for the Bowling Green police, said that there are no suspects in the case, but the investigation is ongoing.

According to an emergency alert sent to faculty, staff and students by campus police, the suspect is a white male between 20 and 24 years old, 6′2″ to 6′4″ in height and weighed between 150 to 175 pounds. He is described as having short brown hair and was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

Pruitt said police were at the scene today and talked to the victim again.

He said it’s difficult to say if the reported attack is linked to the sexual assaults that happened near Center Street earlier in the semester.

He did say that police are looking at the descriptions of the men, but that no conclusions have been made.

Major Mike Wallace of campus police, who sent the alert e-mail to campus, said that campus police aren’t involved with the investigation but will help in any way necessary.

Wallace said he sent the e-mail because he wanted let the campus community know what was going on in the area.

Students were urged in the e-mail to use extreme caution when walking in the area, to travel in pairs and be aware of their surroundings.
