Spring Singers jam to hits from NOW disc

Spring Sing, the annual Greek dance and singing competition took place at 5 p.m. on Sunday in Van Meter Hall. The event was the official kick-off of Greek Week.

The theme was “NOW that’s Spring Sing,” and each of the 17 sororities and fraternities performed routines from the NOW CD collections.

The organizations competed to earn points that will be added to the total points they earned during Greek Week.

The winners will be announced on April 27.

More than 1,600 people attended the event.

Bowling Green senior Jill Arnold and Spring Sing chairwoman said that the turn-out was one of the most exciting parts of the event after all the work that was put into the production.

“It is great to see all the hard work from everyone coming together,” Arnold said. “It shows that the Greek community is still strong on campus.”

The screaming from the different organizations was the best part of Spring Sing for Thompkinsville freshman Corey Emberton, a member of Kappa Alpha.

“Getting up there and performing with everybody screaming made all the work worth it,” Emberton said.

Compared to last year the audience reaction was stronger and the energy was higher it has been in the past the Greek community really showed their support strongly Arnold said.

Whitney Huffman a sophomore from Orlando, Fla. and a member of Chi Omega agreed with Arnold, saying that the performances were much stronger and cleaner than they have been.

“This year is definitely better than last year,” Huffman said. “The energy was incredible and everything was pumping.”
