Officials announced Wednesday that Western will be involved,along with other state universities, with a sub-orbital satellite launch in December from White Sands launch facility in New Mexico.
The student-led project is called Space Express, and it will involve a joint effort between state universities, colleges, organizations and private companies, according to a press release from the organization KySat.
The mission will test subsystems and processes being developed for future orbital KySat missions that are currently being developed, according to the release.
