The Student Government Association plans to meet with ARAMARK to discuss issues regarding food services on campus, including the possibility of extended Garrett Conference Center food court hours and introducing healthy drink options.
Reagan Gilley, director of Academic and Student Affairs and Kevin Smiley, student affairs committee chairman, are setting setting up a meeting with ARAMARK.
Smiley is also working with the information technology department to discuss issues such as possible limitations on the number of pages students are allowed to print and increasing the amount of space in students’ school e-mail inboxes.
SGA is asking students to express how they feel about the study day on the last Friday before finals week that was removed from the academic calendar by posting on a Facebook group called Study Day – Yay or Nay.
This is one way SGA is trying to figure out if enough students would use the day appropriately and if senators should support the re-implementation of the day.
Two resolutions were up for first read at the SGA meeting tonight.
One resolution would allot $2,000 from the SGA budget for the Buy-A-Book program, which would grant eight $250 scholarships to full-time students to help purchase books from the University Bookstore next semester.
The other resolution would allot money from the SGA budget to extend library hours by two hours during finals week.
According to the budget, this costs $600 per semester.
Senators were supposed to vote on a resolution that would provide SGA support for the implementation of United Streaming, an online multimedia educational database created by the Discovery Channel of more than 40,000 video and audio clips.
Senators chose to suspend the vote for the second week in a row.
Senator Damian Clark, author of the resolution, said he wanted to suspend the vote because he wants to get more information about United Streaming from other universities who have implemented it.
SGA plans to vote on the resolution at the Dec. 3 meeting.
