It was there about 40 years ago that Connie Reagan’s dad kissed her mother for the first time.

It was there, a site with a history of romance between Connie and her love, David Embrey.

Saturday, there, beside the kissing bridge, under an arch of white roses, was where Connie and David married.

About 10 years ago, both were students at Western.

Two hundred family members and friends watched the ceremony.

White linen and pedals covered the bridge. Flowers with bows hung from its rails.

The image of flowers covering the bridge romanced Connie, said Julie Keown, her friend and wedding manager. It was part of the reason she chose the spot.

While the couple posed for pictures, grinning with glossy eyes, Ron Reagan, Connie’s dad, stood back and looked at the couple.

“It’s a lot of tradition right here,” he said.

For their reception, the couple danced, ate cake and listened to Disney tunes in Van Meter, where Connie would play flute as a student.

Then they headed for a honeymoon in Hawaii. Soon they’ll move to Caneyville, where David works, to start new traditions as the Embreys.
