It’s not a church; it’s a house. But for the members of Path of Light Ministries, the living room of Preacher Jim Risen is a place for praise and worship. Gospel music plays in the background, folding chairs and a wooden altar carved by a friend line the edge of the room. In the middle, the gathered are talking to God.
Risen, center, rarely stays behind the pulpit, but sits with the 10 faithful who came to gather and give praise last Friday night. Personal testimonies are shared with a Bible verse from the book of Proverbs.
“So do this, my son, and deliver yourself; for you have come into the hand of your friend; go and humble yourself; plead with your friend,” he said. “Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids. Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and like a bird from the hand of the fowler.”
Risen and others begin to pray for Rob Wilson, left, and lay their hands on him, as they do for everyone who asks.
“I am getting to the part where I am crazy for God,” Wilson said to the church members about his growing relationship with God.
Whether it’s through song, speaking in tongues or silent prayer, the faithful gathered in Bee Spring talked to God that night.
