Quartet playing in Bowling Green tonight

urfreesboro, Tenn., quartet Imaginary Baseball League will headline an indie-pop rock showcase of sorts at Spencer’s Coffeehouse tomorrow night before heading north for a gig in Dayton, Ohio.

Lead singer Aaron Robinson said the band is pumped about the show.

“Playing in Bowling Green is just a different experience than playing most other towns,” he said. “It’s weird to drive an hour and a half out of town and still feel like you are at home. People are really supportive of us in BG, and they sing along, which is a huge plus… the crowds are the best and that makes for a better performance from us.”

Robinson added he and his bandmates have been working so much since the group’s last local show in August that IBL has had little time for touring.

“Until two weeks ago, we hadn’t played a show in four months, and only one show in the last seven months,” he said. “We’ve been working on new material this whole time and expect to unveil a good chunk of it at the show on Friday.”

According to Robinson, the band plans to start recording its new material in May, and is hoping to have another album to be released in a few months. He said it depends on how well the recording goes.

Other bands performing tomorrow night are: the Bedtimes from Baltimore, Md., demo-bound Nashville band The Ocelots and Bowling Green’s Go Aberdeen, featuring Eric Wilson.

The Bedtimes claims the Beach Boys, Journey, Teenage Fanclub and The Muppets as its most prominent musical influences and describes its sound as “Led Zepplin playing Hall and Oates tunes. Or vice-versa.”

Cover charge for the show is $3.
