Water to be turned off in buildings tomorrow

s students are leaving campus for Thanksgiving break, the water supply will also be leaving for a few hours.

Water will be out in some buildings for two hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. tomorrow, maintenance manager Steve Barz said.

The water will not be in service because Bowling Green Municipal Utilities will be repairing a damaged waterline on Big Red Way near Schneider Hall, said Doug Ault, director of Facilities Management.

Ault said only office workers will be affected because the water outage is occurring during a holiday when most students are away.

The problem with this waterline began earlier this month when the pipe on Big Red Way was damaged during construction, Barz said. The construction is part of a plan to upgrade Western’s electrical system.

Students who will stay on campus will not be affected because they will relocate to Pearce-Ford Tower, which is not one of the buildings impacted by the water outage, Barz said.

Any cost that comes with this water outage will be paid for by BGMU, Ault said.

“The only cost to Western will be those office workers impacted on Wednesday,” he said.

Barz said everyone should be sure not to leave faucets on during the water outage to prevent problems when the water is turned back on.

If anyone discovers any problems on Wednesday, they should call 745-3253 before 4:30 p.m. and 745-2548 after 4:30.
