Rock the Vote? No, Rock the Troops

“For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the
reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the
soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the
soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose
coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to
abuse and burn that flag.”

Those words by Zell Miller resonate with me every day. I challenge WKU and the Bowling Green community to come together on Tuesday, November 30 to support our troops who sacrifice their lives for our great nation. That night, beginning at 7:00 pm, the newly founded chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars is hosting a benefit concert for our troops in harm’s way. Four bands will play for four hours. The show begins in DUC Theatre at 7 pm. Admission will be $3 ($2 with a canned good or magazine). Please let our troops know how much we appreciate them by attending this concert. All proceeds will go toward buying gift packages to send to our troops overseas. The bands playing are Death Comes to Matteson, Phil Whitman, The Hot Rocks, and Eric Wilson. All bands are great and are volunteering to do this in support of our troops. Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you Rock the Troops Tuesday.
