ngela Anderson has it all figured out.
The Glasgow freshman dreams of being a lawyer.
“I’m good at arguing,” she said.
When she was in high school, Anderson had an internship with the Commonwealth attorney’s office and decided she wanted to go into law.
To fulfill her dream, Anderson said she might possibly transfer to Eastern Kentucky University, where she said they have a good pre-law program. She also said she plans to attend law school at the University of Kentucky.
Anderson said that during her internship, she met Ken Garrett, an assistant to the Commonwealth attorney. She said Garrett encouraged her, and she still talks to him often.
“He helps me in every way he can,” she said.
Anderson’s mother, Bonnie, said her daughter will make an excellent lawyer.
“She knows how to read people,” her mother said. “She goes out of her way to help people.”
Anderson describes herself as outgoing, random and spontaneous. She likes to run, hang out with friends and have fun. “Sometimes too much fun,” she said. “I’ve done too many things.”
Anderson’s friend, Glasgow freshman Kristen Spiegl, said that she and Anderson have been through many ups and downs.
“We used to hate each other,” she said. “She was someone I never thought that I could trust. Now she is one of my best friends.”
Even though she might not stay at Western, Anderson said that she has changed in the few months that she has been here.
“I have matured,” she said. “I have no drama in my life.”
Her mother agrees Angela has changed.
“Her independence has come out,” she said. “Her decision making has improved.”
That doesn’t mean that Anderson has left her old life completely, however.
“She comes home quite a bit,” her mother said. “She’s a mama’s girl. I love her to pieces.”
